laser & ipl study Options FOR MEDICAL STAFF

choose a study option that suits you:

ONLINE - NZLT Institute can offer you online study options where you enrol and complete all course content online, meaning you are in charge of your own learning. You will follow online content and use a workbook to complete activities, submit your workbook or assignments for marking and sit an online multiple-choice assessment - after which and with an 80% minimum pass mark, you will receive your certificate in the post. We have 4 online course options available

IN CLASS - Some people do better face to face where they can interact with other learners and ask questions of their tutor, this environment also suits learners who learn best from visual and repeated learning such as seeing something, doing something, touching machines, watching videos, and using activities in a classroom setting. We have 17 options available

BLENDED LEARNING - A combination of the learning two methods above, when you enrol for the NZQA Micro-Credential you will be completing 278 hours of self-guided online learning, however, you will also have some virtual classroom time with the tutor each week and then attend in person at classroom practical sessions where you will learn how to operate a range of lasers and IPL devices and build your confidence and competency levels. The total NZQA programme is 400 hours / 16 weeks.

  • You are new to the aesthetic medical or medical laser industry and aren’t sure you want to train in how to operate devices yet, you’d like to see what is involved and what types of devices you might be working with - this is a way to see what lasers in medical are all about with training how to use them yet

  • You are already working in an appearance medical clinic or a medical facility where lasers or IPL devices are used (e.g.: Dermatology, Medical Centre or Hospital) and now require an updated certificate for your employer or CV

  • You are already trained in how to operate IPL and Lasers and wish to obtain an updated certificate for evidence of professional development (CPD) and wish to apply for continuing professional development points through the medical or nursing council - use this certificate to apply and keep your current practicing license up to date by completing this relevant programme.

In Class with blended learning

Does this sound like you?

  • You are ready to start learning how to do treatments, you may have no idea how much theory is behind treatments such as hair removal, skin rejuvenation, or laser tattoo removal, you may be confused as to what exactly you need to learn, and what you will need to know to become an excellent and proficient laser or IPL Technician.

  • You may already have been trained by a sales rep and think you know enough to do treatments; however, you’ve discovered that results are ‘hit and miss’ or clients are returning unhappy that their hair has returned after a series of treatments - or you wish you could get more out of your machine.

  • You may be completely new to the medical aesthetic industry, after completing nursing training you know the skin anatomy well but not clinically for cosmetic treatments; you’ve decided that your passion lies with helping people to improve their skin or transform their lives by reducing unwanted hair growth, sun damage, wrinkles, or vascular lesions

  • You have an existing or new clinic and have decided that you need to add IPL or Laser to the treatment menu but have no idea what you need to know, what to buy, or who to trust buying from. You want to train with the best and access NZ’s educators who are highly qualified and experts in the field of IPL and Laser
