In New Zealand, all operators using high powered lasers, and workplaces with Class 3B and Class 4 lasers, need to abide by the Health and Safety at Work (General Risk and Workplace Management) Regulations 2016, & The Health and Safety at Work Act 2015, as these laser are recognised as workplace hazards; capable of ocular and skin injury, as well as posing exposure hazards (eg: Plume, inhaled contaminents etc..)

This formal Laser Safety Officer (LSO) Training Certification is the first of its kind in New Zealand. Learners on this programme will be trained to become the LSO in their workplace. (For Non-Healthcare Industries such as Laser cleaning, welding and industrial or commercial Class 3B & Class 4 Lasers). The course is suitable for existing Health & Safety trained Managers to upskill into a role encompassing the introduced lasers in workplace.
